In 1971 David Bowie changed the face of the rock and roll landscape, as well as his own. After telling Melody Maker magazine he was gay he took on the monicker “Ziggy Stardust” a doomed intergalactic rock star with a band of spiders from Mars (see The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars). His live performances became more than music, they were strange things of fancy with Bowie donning his orange hair and alien make-up. This new image was the best incarnation of glam-rock to that point and it began his redefinition of what rock music could be.
Bowie continued to reinvent his personality throughout the years while continuously reinventing his sound as well. Without him music would be bland. This playlist is for Ziggy Stardust, but it’s also for you and your other self. Keep reinventing.
